Two more arrests made in 2022 kidnapping, robbery in Scarborough

Story by Kevin Connor/Toronto Police have made two more arrests in a violent kidnapping and robbery that occurred last year.

On Nov. 17, 2022, at 3:45 p.m., police were called to a suspicious incident in the Markham Rd. and Eglinton Ave. area.

Police say a man was in the area of the Scarborough Town Centre and was forced into a vehicle against his will by three suspects.

The victim was assaulted for hours and was forced at gunpoint to hand over jewelry.

The man was able to escape from the vehicle hours later.

On Nov. 21, police announced the arrest of Suliaman Sufi, 21, of Toronto. He was charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement, robbery with a firearm, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, theft of a motor vehicle, extortion, and failing to comply with a release order.

On Friday, cops announced the March 21 arrest of Abdulhai Patel, 21, of Pickering. He was charged with kidnapping, extortion, forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm, threaten death, robbery with a firearm, theft of motor vehicle, and possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000.

Also on Friday, Musin Sufi, 24, of Toronto, was arrested. He was charged with kidnapping, extortion, forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm, threaten death, robbery with a firearm, and theft of motor vehicle.
