Days after an alarming series of stabbings in downtown Vancouver that left several people injured, authorities have arrested a suspect.
The Vancouver Police Department said officers took a 35-year-old into custody in the city’s Downtown Eastside on Monday afternoon.
No further details have been shared.
On Sunday, police shared a suspect image of a woman sought in connection with the attacks. Finding the person responsible for the “violent and unprovoked” crimes was the “highest priority” for investigators over the Thanksgiving long weekend, Sgt. Steve Addison said in a statement at the time.
The incident unfolded Friday morning, when officers were called to an area of the seawall in Yaletown, near David Lam Park.
Three stabbing victims were found with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. Four other victims later came forward, including “another stabbing victim, a person who was physically assaulted, and two others who were not physically injured,” police said in a previous news release.
Authorities said five of the victims are men and two are women, with their ages ranging from 23 to 59.
