WestJet launched its summer 2026 schedule with a series of major announcements today.
The Canadian air carrier unveiled five new seasonal international destinations flying out of Toronto Pearson Airport , three new transatlantic destinations out of Halifax Stanfield International Airport , as well as new domestic and Nordic connections from Western Canada’s Winnipeg Richardson International Airport and Edmonton International Airport .
Headlining the slate of new destinations is WestJet’s first South American non-stop connection from Toronto to Medellín, Colombia , slated to begin April 28 and scheduled for four times weekly.

In addition to the Medellín connection, WestJet will add flights out of Toronto Pearson to Cardiff, United Kingdom , scheduled to begin May 22, and Ponta Delgada, Portugal , scheduled to begin June 12. WestJet is also reinstating service between Toronto and Glasgow, Scotland , scheduled to begin on May 15 of next year. All of the flights are scheduled to take place four times a week.
WestJet CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech noted the new destinations are made possible due in large part to the extended range of the airline’s growing fleet of Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft.
“Toronto Pearson International Airport serves as a natural connector for international travel,” von Hoensbroech said, “and we look forward to the two-way travel opportunities that will come from one of WestJet’s biggest investments in the region.”
WestJet is also strengthening its position in Nova Scotia by adding four summer seasonal routes flying out of Halifax Stanfield International Airport. This will include non-stop seasonal connectivity from Halifax to Madrid, Spain , scheduled to begin May 15 (four times weekly); Lisbon, Portugal , beginning May 1, (four times weekly); Copenhagen, Denmark , beginning May 28 (four times weekly); and Detroit, Mich ., beginning May 18 (seven times weekly).
WestJet will also be connecting Edmonton and Winnipeg to Reykjavik, Iceland , in the coming year. The flights out of Winnipeg Richardson International Airport are scheduled to begin June 26 and take place weekly, while the flights out of Edmonton International Airport are slated to begin June 27 and are also scheduled to take place once a week.
In addition, WestJet is set to launch flights three times a week between Winnipeg and London, Ont., beginning May 17. Further west, the airline will offer service between Vancouver and Penticton, B.C., five days a week onboard WestJet Encore’s De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft, set to begin May 15.
Also announced as part of WestJet’s summer 2026 lineup, the airline is extending key sun destination routes to operate year-round from Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary and Winnipeg.
The remaining schedule for WestJet’s summer 2026 travel season will be announced early next year.
