Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer. The leaders discussed the implementation of the peace formula and strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities. according to the website of the Presidential Office of Ukraine.
Key topics of the negotiations included the security situation and bolstering Ukraine, particularly through new defense support from London.
The Ukrainian president expressed gratitude to the prime minister for the steps Britain has taken since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and thanked him for ongoing support throughout the war.
Starmer noted that he met with Zelenskyy to discuss the challenges facing Ukraine and to reaffirm unwavering support.
“And to have the chance to talk through what more needs to be done because these are turning into crucial weeks and months,” the British Prime Minister added.
During the talks, the leaders also focused on the implementation of a bilateral security agreement, the peace formula, preparations for the second Peace Summit, cooperation within the Ukraine-NATO framework, and progress in negotiations toward signing an agreement for a stronger and deeper partnership.
Zelenskyy’s visit to the US
This week, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on an official visit to the United States. The head of state will hold a series of meetings with world leaders and participate in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
The British publication The Guardian reported that during the meeting with Starmer, Zelenskyy plans to discuss the situation at the front. One of the topics of the meeting will be the permission to strike with Storm Shadow missiles on targets deep within Russia.
It was previously reported that London would not allow long-range missile strikes on Russian territory without US approval.
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, during a speech at the UN, referred to Russian leader Vladimir Putin as a slave owner and described Russia as a corrupt mafia state.
