A special weather statement has been issued for a rainstorm expected over Vancouver Island and B.C.’s South Coast for Monday evening into Tuesday.
“A frontal system west of the offshore waters over the Pacific will be rapidly intensifying today as it approaches the B.C. coast,” read the Environment Canada statement issued on Sunday .
“As the frontal system reaches the B.C. north and central coasts later today and overnight into Monday it rapidly moves south.”
By Monday afternoon, the system is expected to stall over west Vancouver Island, with between 10 to 150 millimetres of rainfall expected by Tuesday morning.
During that same period Monday overnight, Metro Vancouver – which includes Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, the North Shore, Coquitlam and Maple Ridge – could see between 50 to 75 millimetres of rainfall.
