A Canadian resident who faces losing his home after a court ruled it should be handed over to a native tribe has hit out at the decision. Bal Batth is among 150 homeowners in the City of Richmond who are affected by the ruling in favor of the Cowichan tribe. In August, the British Columbia Supreme Court granted four First Nations tribes the title to government-held lands near Richmond’s Fraser River , settling a long legal battle that began in 2019. The ruling was approved despite it affecting private homeowners and businesses on the land.
