- managing detainee files
- ensuring the security of the detention facility
- maintaining the well-being of detainees
- diffusing situations
- making detention and/or release decisions
- conducting risk assessments and making recommendations on detention placement
- monitoring, reporting and interacting with detainees
- completing transports of detainees as required
The CBSA salary for Enforcement Officer positions is $75,100 to $89,068 a year.
You need at least a secondary school diploma to get hired.
Also, significant and recent experience effectively de-escalating difficult situations in an enforcement or mental health environment is required.
All applicants will be required to meet these conditions of employment:
- possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
- possess and maintain a valid Standard First Aid Certificate
- carry, use and maintain CBSA-issued defensive equipment (including a duty firearm and a baton)
- wear and maintain a uniform
- work overtime as required
- willingness to work a 24/7 rotational shift schedule or work various shifts
- complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course
- travel as requested (in Canada, in the U.S. and/or internationally)
- possess a valid passport
- obtain and maintain a Transportation Security Clearance
- operate a government vehicle
- accept deployments anywhere in Canada
