President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak. One of the topics discussed was the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense systems, according to the head of the Ukrainian state on Telegram.
Zelenskyy noted that he informed Sunak about the recent terrorist attacks by Russians on Ukraine. Over the past five days, the occupiers launched at least 500 rockets and drones.
The head of state also thanked Sunak for the significant assistance from Britain in strengthening the Ukrainian air defense systems, including radars, advanced anti-drone systems, and missiles.
“We discussed the continuation of defense cooperation with an emphasis on further strengthening air defense systems and long-range capabilities of the Armed Forces,” the President said.
Zelenskyy added that he and Sunak emphasized the productive work on the bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine.
The sides also coordinated positions on the peace formula ahead of the meeting of the heads of state advisors in Switzerland and discussed preparation for the Global Peace Summit at the leadership level.
British assistance
Britain is one of Ukraine’s key allies since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.
The country has provided our military with Challenger 2 tanks, long-range Storm Shadow missiles, self-propelled artillery units, air defense systems, and more.
Following another mass strike by the Russians on December 29, Britain announced its intention to transfer hundreds of air defense missiles to Ukraine.
